Qual-a-Homes Training Program

November 30, 1999

A NYS approved Individualized Training Program, (ITP) Qual-a-Homes is a 10-month on-site training program for Family Child Care and Group Family Child Care Providers who are committed to actively improving the quality of their child care services. Our Education Specialist will come to you, presenting a 3 hour training each month utilizing your environment and engaging the children in your care. This program covers all the required training areas and required hours in 10 months.

Benefits:

  • Receive 30 hours of training in one year, accepted by NYS (CEU 3.)
  • Monthly in-home training conducted by professionals
  • Learn how to assess your environment and program using the “Family Day Care Environmental Rating Scale”
  • Each training session in your home is individualized to meet your identified needs and goals
  • Engage in hands-on activities with the children in your care that practice theories of high quality Early Childhood Education

Eligibility:

  • Registered Family Child Care Provider, Licensed Group Family Child Care Provider, or an Assistant in a Group Family Child Care Program
  • Providers are eligible to complete one 30 hour session for ONE TIME ONLY. After the initial training, our consultant will complete a professional development plan with the provider and assist with the next step of identifying training or college coursework in the community.
  • Eligible to receive EIP funds from NYS, or able to pay privately
  • Commit to actively work towards improving the quality of your child care program

Wayne County Family Child Care Association Professional Development and Support Series

November 30, 1999

This monthly series covers all 9 topic categories in the New York State training requirements. Participants who attend this series will complete 24 hours of training in one calendar year.

Health and Safety for Child Care Centers

A Training Program for Child Care Center Staff.

This is not only a great training for new center staff but also a great refresher for current staff. It is a 15 hour class that covers all of the required topics. This is a competency-based curriculum which requires the successful completion of written and demonstration tests.
