New York Training Requirements for  all Child Caregivers:

  • Family and Group Family Child Care providers, assistants and Child Care Center staff must complete 30 hours of training during each 2 year registration/licensing period.
  • 15 hours of training must be completed in the first six months of licensure, registration, or employment in a Child Care Center.  This can be accomplished by taking separate classes from each category or a Health & Safety course for Family or Group Family or Health & Safety for Centers.
  • Training must address each of the following categories during each registration or licensing period.
