Health Services Department The Health Services Department is staffed with two Registered Nurses who have specialized knowledge in the regulations and issues related to children in out of home child care. Our nurses teach all of the Health Classes including Medication Administration Training and various classes on specific health conditions including:
Joanne Buell RN, MSN is the newest member of Health Services, though she is not new to nursing. Joanne earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Alfred University. While working at Strong Memorial Hospital in Obstetrics, she earned her Master of Science degree and her certification as a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner. She has worked in many settings including the RIT Student Health Center, the Genesee Health Center, Jordan Health Center, and most recently, as a school nurse in elementary, middle, and high schools. She is also a certified CPR and First Aid instructor. Emily Leone RN, MSN began her nursing career at Strong Memorial Hospital in 1988 in Pediatrics. While employed at Strong, Emily obtained a Masters Degree in the Care of Children and Families and is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. In addition to Strong Memorial Hospital, Emily has worked as a school nurse in elementary school and in college health at Monroe Community College. Emily and Joanne provide Health Care Consultant services for the Child Care Council and are available to answer your questions regarding health, infection control, and medication administration for the children in your child care program.
