This training series is required for anyone who wishes to become registered or licensed as a Family or Group Family Child Care Provider in New York State. The material is presented in six sessions and covers seven specific training modules. Existing providers will find this a great refresher course in 7 of the 9 required topics. It is also a good way for GFDC assistants to get their first 15 hours of training very quickly. This is a competency-based curriculum which requires the successful completion of written and demonstration tests.

In order to administer medication to children in New York State, Day Care regulations require this training for Family and Group Family Providers, Centers, School-Age staff, and Legally Exempt programs. Participants should apply for a $100.00 rebate to cover part of the $125.00 fee for the course. Rebate applications can be obtained at any Child Care Council office, www.tsg.suny.edu, or by calling 1-800-295-9616.
The MAT course is offered in a series of three evenings or over two Saturdays.

This 7.5 hour Red Cross Training and Certification class is for Infant, Child and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid.
In order to meet the requirements for the Emergency Medication Waiver, the registered nurses are offering this training. These sessions will provide preparation for recognition and emergency response by the child’s caregivers. The focus will be hands-on training and scenarios to ensure that providers are able to competently manage asthma attacks and severe allergic reactions in their programs.

What is a CDA?
A Child Development Associate (CDA) is an individual who has successfully completed a CDA assessment and has been awarded the National CDA Credential. S/he is able to meet the specific needs of children and works with parents and other adults to nurture children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a child development framework (Council for Professional Recognition). The CDA is accepted as the required training hours for Family Day Care Accreditation. The CDA Credential is a requirement for lead teachers in a child care center according to the minimum qualifications in the NYS day care regulations. Participants may choose one of three specializations; Infant/ Toddler, Preschool or Family Child Care.
What are the requirements?
Prior to applying for the CDA Credential Assessment, each candidate is required to complete 120 clock hours of formal child care education in eight different categories, which are offered through our CDA courses.

CDA Courses at Child Care Council, Inc. are designed for potential candidates to complete their 120 hours, assist with the development of competency papers, and create a professional resource file. CDA Courses are available in the evenings. Classes meet
weekly for 3 hours for approximately 11 months. Evening classes are from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
How much does it cost?
