    New Law for Drop-side Cribs

    May 1, 2011

    Effective October 28th, 2010, NYS enacted a new law that bans the sale of all drop- side cribs. Drop-side cribs have plastic hardware that can break, deform, or parts can become missing. The Consumer Product Safety Commission urges parents and caregivers to immediately stop using all recalled cribs. A list of recalled cribs is posted here. If you have a recalled crib, we urge you to get in touch with the manufacturer who will supply you with a free repair kit. There is also a guide for parents and caregivers here.

    CCC has been chosen for the Chase Corporate Challenge!

    April 29, 2011

    Child Care Council, Inc (Rochester), Child Care Resource Network (Buffalo) and Child Care Solutions (Syracuse) will each receive a donation from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, on behalf of the Corporate Challenge. The donations are in partnership with Winning Beginning NY, a statewide early childhood education coalition.
    Registration for the Chase Corporate Challenge events in Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse are now open. The three races will attract nearly 30,000 total participants from over 1,000 upstate New York companies.

    Infant Sleep Positioners Warning

    December 31, 2010

    The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are warning consumers to stop using infant sleep positioners.  Over the past 13 years, there have been 12 reports of infants between the ages of one month and four months who have suffocated in sleep positioners or became trapped and suffocated between the sleep positioner and the side of the crib or bassinet.     Fisher-Price Recalls

    The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Fisher-Price are recalling more than 10 million children’s products.  The recall includes 14 models of the Fisher-Price Trikes and Tough Trikes toddler tricycles, seven models of infant activity centers with inflatable balls, Fisher-Price Little People Wheelies Stand ‘n Play Rampway, and Fisher-Price high chairs.
