A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A 1:1 TEACHER’S AIDE

As a 1:1 Teacher’s Aide, you will participate in record keeping and data collection under the teacher’s supervision, and will consistently follow through with behavior plans as developed by the special education teacher and school psychologist. You will be responsible for assuring the personal safety of children in all settings throughout the day including gym and outside play and will demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support children in assigned classroom as well as in other classrooms as needed based upon child absences; you will demonstrate use and implementation of specialized skills as needed (e.g. TEACCH, ABA), and will aid the classroom teacher/staff with daily activities in a 1:1 situation (gym, speech, physical or occupational therapy), field trips and outdoor events when necessary. You will also maintain good rapport with parent(s)/guardian(s) during contacts in program and in the community, and will maintain routine parent communication system(s) as needed; will perform other related duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Required:

High School diploma/GED
Desired Skills:

Experience with young children with disabilities preferred.
Experience with behaviorally or multiply challenged toddler/preschoolers preferred.
Some lifting is required. Must have acceptable results of background and reference checks.

Hours: Part-time Monday through Friday (7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.) to include 1/2 hour unpaid meal break (30 hours/week).

Part-time Monday through Friday (10:30a.m. -1:30p.m.) to provide staff lunch coverage (15 hours/week).
