Cameras and Kids 2012

November 30, 1999

SMILE! Its time once again for the Child Care Council’s annual Cameras and Kids contest!  All Registered Providers as well as Legally Exempt Providers who are participating in the Food Program are welcome to join us in this exciting project.  The contest will begin in February and conclude on August 31, 2012.  The Cameras and Kids Contest offers providers and children a fun way to interact and explore the world of photography.

Children ages 3-12 are eligible for the contest.  The child must take the photograph without any adult assistance.  The photographs cannot be altered and must be appropriate.  If you are in need of a digital camera, contact The Child Care Council and we will be happy to make arrangements to visit your program and facilitate your participation.

The contest will be accepting digital photographs only this year.  Information regarding how to submit photographs digitally to the Child Care Council will be arriving shortly in eligible Providers mailboxes.  Any Providers with questions regarding how to download or submit photographs to the contest are encouraged to call the Council for assistance.  Registered Providers may contact Megan Personale at (585) 654-3701.

Child Care Providers Deduction of Union Dues from child care subsidy payments

November 30, 1999
The purpose of the Local Commissioners Memorandum is to inform social services districts (SSD), other than New York City (NYC), of the implementation of the deduction of union dues/fees from child care subsidy payments made to providers of family day care, group family day care, legally-exempt in-home and legally-exempt family child care.

Implementation of the deduction of union dues/fees from each child care subsidy payment made to eligible providers is scheduled to start with checks produced on January 3, 2012.

During each calendar year, BICS will deduct up to two percent (2%) from each child care subsidy payment made to eligible providers up to the annual maximum allowable union dues/fees deduction amount of $690 for each provider. Each provider check will include contact information for CSEA if the providers or SSD have questions about the union dues/fees deductions.

A Quality Rating System in NY is coming!

November 30, 1999

QUALITYstarsNY is a comprehensive initiative to ensure that our young children – the 1.5 million New Yorkers under age six – have the opportunity for high quality early learning experiences.

During 2010, QUALITYstarsNY was piloted to 192 programs, providers and school districts in 13 communities throughout the state.

Approximately 20 programs in Rochester participated in the field test.
